UG (MBBS) Admissions

Does GIMSH conduct its own entrance exam for MBBS admission?
No. GIMSH does not conduct any separate entrance examination. All MBBS admissions are based exclusively on the candidate's NEET UG score through the centralized WBMCC counseling process.
Can students from other states apply for MBBS at GIMSH?
Yes. Students from any state in India can apply for MBBS at GIMSH under the Management Quota (approx 60% of seats). State Quota seats are exclusively reserved for West Bengal domicile candidates.
Is there a direct admission option for MBBS at GIMSH?
No. GIMSH strictly follows the WBMCC counseling process for all MBBS admissions. There is no direct admission or management discretion quota outside this process. Beware of any person claiming to offer direct admission.
What is the minimum age for MBBS admission?
Candidates must be at least 17 years old as on December 31 of the admission year. As per recent Supreme Court rulings, there is no upper age limit.
How many MBBS seats are available at GIMSH?
GIMSH has an annual intake of 200 MBBS seats, making it one of the largest private medical colleges in West Bengal.

PG (MD/MS) Admissions

How many MD/MS seats and specialties are available at GIMSH?
GIMSH offers approximately 62 total PG seats distributed across 18 NMC-approved specialties (12 MD specialties and 6 MS specialties).
Is NEET PG mandatory for MD/MS admission at GIMSH?
Yes. NEET PG is the mandatory qualifying examination for all MD/MS admissions. There is no separate entrance exam.
Is internship completion mandatory before NEET PG?
You can appear for NEET PG before your internship is completed, but you must complete your 1-year compulsory rotating internship by the stipulated deadline set by NMC to be eligible for admission.
Can I change my specialty after joining?
No. Change of specialty after enrollment and WBUHS registration is not permitted.

WBMCC Counseling Process

What is the official website for NEET WB Counseling?
The official website for both UG and PG West Bengal counseling is wbmcc.nic.in, operated by the West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee.
How many rounds of counseling does WBMCC conduct?
WBMCC typically conducts 3 main rounds (Round 1, Round 2, Mop-Up Round) followed by a Stray Vacancy round if seats remain unfilled.
Can I change my college preferences after locking?
No. Once you lock your choices on the WBMCC portal, they cannot be modified for that round. Unlocked choices are not processed for allotment.
What happens if I do not report to the allotted college?
If you fail to report to the allotted college within the reporting window, your seat allotment will be automatically cancelled. You may participate in subsequent rounds subject to WBMCC rules.
Can I participate in Round 2 if not allotted in Round 1?
Yes. Unallotted candidates can seamlessly participate in Round 2 choice filling.

Fees & Scholarships

Does GIMSH charge any capitation fee or donation?
Absolutely not. GIMSH strictly does not charge any capitation fee or donation. All fees are exactly as government-approved and published by the WB State Fee Regulatory Committee.
How are fees paid — cash or bank transfer?
All payments MUST be made via DD, NEFT/RTGS, or the official college payment portal. No cash payments are accepted for tuition or admission fees.
Can fees be paid in installments?
Yes. Fees are structured to be paid annually (year-wise) prior to the commencement of each academic year.
Is the caution deposit refundable?
Yes. The caution deposit is fully refundable at the end of the course, subject to the clearance of all university/hostel dues.
Are there scholarships available for students?
Yes. Eligible students can apply for WB Govt. merit scholarships, NMC scholarships, EWS financial assistance, and the internal GIMSH Merit Scholarship for top NEET rankers.

Documents & Reporting

How many photocopies of each document should I carry?
You must carry at least 3 sets of self-attested photocopies of every document, along with all the original documents.
Can I submit photocopies instead of originals at reporting?
No. Original documents must be presented for verification. They will be securely retained and returned to you after the verification and course completion process as per norms.
Is a migration certificate required for all candidates?
It is only required for candidates whose previous qualifying degree or board (e.g., 10+2 board or MBBS degree) is from a university or board other than WBUHS/WBCHSE.
What if I am missing a document on the day of reporting?
You must immediately contact the GIMSH Admissions Office in advance at 7797662222. Missing critical documents may delay or jeopardize your admission.
What is an anti-ragging undertaking and where do I get it?
It is a mandatory declaration by the student and parent not to engage in ragging. The format is provided by GIMSH at the time of admission, or you can download it from our website.
