What is the duration of the MBBS course at GIMSH?
The MBBS program has a total duration of 5.5 years — comprising 4.5 years of academic study divided into three phases, followed by a mandatory 1-year compulsory rotating internship at GIMSH Hospital.
Are GIMSH programs recognized by NMC?
Yes, GIMSH is fully approved by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and is affiliated with the West Bengal University of Health Sciences (WBUHS) for both UG and PG programs.
Can students from outside West Bengal apply?
Yes. While 33% of private MBBS seats are reserved for WB Domicile (State Quota), the remaining Management Quota and NRI Quota seats are completely open to candidates from any state in India.
Is there a direct admission option?
No. GIMSH strictly follows the WBMCC counseling process for both MBBS and MD/MS admissions. There is no direct admission outside the WBMCC process based on NEET scores.
