Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about psychiatric care

How do I know if I need to see a psychiatrist?
If you're experiencing persistent sadness, severe anxiety, extreme mood changes, hallucinations, or other mental health concerns that affect your daily functioning, work, or relationships, it's time to see a psychiatrist. There's no shame in seeking help—mental health is just as important as physical health.
What should I expect during my first appointment?
During your first visit, the psychiatrist will conduct a comprehensive assessment in a private setting. This includes discussing your current symptoms, medical history, family history, and psychosocial factors (work, family life). This detailed evaluation helps in making an accurate diagnosis and developing a personalized treatment plan.
Are psychiatric medications safe?
Yes, modern psychiatric medications are safe and highly effective when prescribed and carefully monitored by qualified psychiatrists. We carefully select medications based on your specific condition, age, and physical health profile, and we continuously monitor for any potential side effects during follow-up visits.
How long does psychiatric treatment typically last?
Psychiatric treatment duration varies widely depending on the specific condition, its severity, and your individual response. Some conditions like mild anxiety or situational depression may require short-term treatment (a few months), while chronic illnesses like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder generally benefit from long-term management to maintain stability.
